About us

At the Parish Council meeting on Tuesday, 6th September 2016, the Parish Council decided to establish an independent Working Group to progress the search for improved broadband in Little Somerford. These notes are a slightly amended extract from an email sent by Tony Pooley the chair of the Parish Council.

Five villagers - Kate Batey, Zoe Carruthers, Toby Davidson, Jon Noble and Chris Reynolds - who had individually expressed a desire to be involved in seeking a Broadband solution for the village and they have all agreed to be members of this new Working Group. Zoe has been elected co-ordinator and the group met for the first time on Tuesday, 13th September.

The Working Group's objectives are to deliver to the village:

  1. a thorough analysis of Broadband options and
  2. a recommended course of action.

Although an FTTP provider came to make a presentation to the village, the Working Group will look at and report back on all available technologies and options, as well as BT's and Wiltshire Online's current plans for Little Somerford. They will also press ahead in getting a date for the FTTP provider to conduct its survey in order to provide a fully costed proposal.

The Working Group has asked me to tell you that it will be in touch in the next few weeks to introduce the group and let you know what it has been working on. Should you have any concerns/questions that you would like addressing within the scope of its research, please write to the Working Group at LSBroadband@hotmail.com.
