ADSL
ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) – provides speeds of ‘up to’ 20 Megabits/second (Mbps)
- This is the most common technology, and has been in use for 15 years or so.
- The BT equipment is located in the telephone exchange.
- The speed of your internet connection is governed by how far you are from the exchange, and the condition of the cable between.
- The further you are away, the more loss in the cables, therefore the slower speed you get.
- As Little Somerford is a fair distance from each of the telephone exchanges, most people’s maximum speeds are in the 1-4Mbps range
